Weather Changes The Plans

This was the scene as I was driving to the farm last night. Clear to the west, rain to the east over the farm. Another inch of rain in the buckets this morning.

By this time in the blog I would have thought we'd be deep into training with a few Eureka races under the belt, and horses moving on to bigger things. We've had nightmare weather for training horses. Though noticed last night the vegetation is beautiful, and today it looks as if finally the rest of the country is getting some rain.

In any other endeavor I'd be very upset. What is it after all that has for three years now changed our western Missouri weather pattern from one of 2-3 weeks of dry followed by a couple days of welcome rain to intermittent periods of drought and lengthy rain? Of course in the scheme of things it's just the way things line up. That it's bound to change keeps you going.

The breezes tonight are out the window as is tomorrow's Eureka trip. We're submerged right now with very little sun today. Unable to gallop on our mushy track without ruining it, though we were able to get in some riderless work last night in a muddy paddock. Hope everybody has their shoes. More bad news though, see below.

That catches things up. Good news though! The Pedigree Forum today stated that six year old maidens are allowed to race at Fairmount Park in St. Louis. Gives us something to shoot at with Acesmash our six year old.

Training:
5/30/07 Wed. Day 2: Off due to weather
5/31/07 Thurs. 4 x 3f slow gallop
6/1/07 Frid. abcess, front left.
