Mon. Misc.

Tom Durkin could make a Eureka Downs race the best one you ever saw, and as such I was less blown away with The Wood and I Want Revenge than the general chorus. Nice horse, nice race. He's fast, but would any of the 5 or 6 top Derby prospects have failed running away from this field of undertrained dogs?

And, who knows what caused The Pamplemoose's tendon. Conformation, failure to warm or gallop, bad luck? the State Vet made the discovery instead of the trainer, but...RR considering.....when I'm 70 maybe they'll give me a tad more rope. Shame about the horse. I had a feeling he was the best this year.

And then, here in KC we get winter in April and late March. Our nice January and February training has been obliterated by constant precip and mud. We've galloped what, twice in 2.5 weeks of any consequence. Big set back. We're mobile, but I need some dry weather to get that trailer in there for trailer training. Then, presumably we're off to the race track.

Training:
Sat 4/4: The horses were driven a mile riderless in deep mud with some short spurts. Thereafter tacked: Rod: 3 x 3/4 mile trot-slow gallop. Art: 2 x 3/4 mile trot-slow gallop. Art's third heat was rained out.
Sun. 4/5: Off. Weather.
